Apply now: Ocean Wise is recruiting youth for its life-changing programs!

Ocean Wise is recruiting youth (18 – 30) Canada-wide for the next wave of 170 youth and young professionals to join the all-expense paid Ocean Bridge leadership and ocean service programs, Ocean Bridge Classic and Direct Action. Recruitment closes on March 20 and applications can be made directly at bridge.ocean.org.

If you love the ocean and want to take action for ocean conservation, now’s your chance!

Want to feel inspired? Check out OceanWise's “A year in the life of Ocean Bridge” video.

Here are some things you should know:

  • This year’s Ocean Bridge programs include:

    • Ocean Bridge Classic – a six-month, part-time project-based personal development program that includes two, expenses-paid, immersive learning journeys in awe-inspiring regions of Canada: Pacific Coast, Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, and Atlantic Coast.

    • Direct Action – a three-month, full-time, and funded immersive placement program. Youth and young professionals are connected with experts in the field, to learn new skills, conduct adventurous fieldwork opportunities and outreach projects.

  • There is no cost to participate. In fact, both the Ocean Bridge Classic and the Direct Action programs fund participant expenses while on learning journeys or during their placements. Financial support for things like internet access and childcare is also available on an as needed basis.

  • There are 140 spots available for the Ocean Bridge Classic program and 30 sports for the Ocean Bridge Direct Action program. Ocean Wise is proactively looking for a diverse group including youth from the Prairies, inland communities, the North, and all social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.

  • The application process is low barrier. Youth can apply via 1-minute video, 750-word expression of interest, art portfolio, or whatever way they choose.
